baby food in france

I have to TOTALLY DISAGREE with the statement that the baby food in France is good, sometimes better, than in the States! I took my 8 month old to France and did not bring any baby food (beyond what was needed for the flight) and found myself with very little I could serve my son. What says "peas" is only a fraction peas. They add oils, potatoes and various other ingredients. The ONLY food I found, after searching several stores, including a pharmacy and organic specialty store, were carrots. I could also feed him pumpkin because the added ingredients were things he'd had previously. TWO WEEKS of carrots and pumpkin... the poor guy. AND the baby cereal had a weird gelatinous texture. Luckily my son is now 17 months old and when we go next week he will just eat whatever we eat- but I am pregnant and when we travel again with the new baby I am going to ask that my mother-in-law buys a baby food mill before we get there so the little one can eat something other than carrots!!
